A studio built on the idea that oral care should feel human again.

Northwood Smile Collective started in a kitchen in Stow with a $19 mortar & pestle and one stubborn question: why does the toothpaste aisle feel more like a chemistry supply catalog than a wellness ritual?

Meet the maker

Dan Poff, founder

Dan spent fifteen years in Northeast Ohio's commercial packaging industry before a family health scare sent him down a rabbit hole of ingredient labels. He couldn't find an oral care line that met a simple bar: honest labels, food-grade ingredients, and a routine his kids would actually stick to.

So he built one. What began as batches of remineralizing paste stirred in a stainless bowl on his kitchen counter is now a full studio a few miles down the road, run with a small team of formulators, a rotating dental advisory panel, and one very old golden retriever named Biscuit.

"Our mission is simple," Dan says. "Make the two minutes you spend brushing feel like time you're investing in yourself — not a chore you have to finish before bed."

Our principles

Six commitments we make on every batch.

1

Full-disclosure labels

Every ingredient, in plain English, with its purpose. No proprietary blends, no marketing shorthand.

2

Dental panel review

Three licensed Ohio dentists sign off on every new formula before it leaves the studio.

3

Small-batch by design

We cap batches at 400 units so nothing sits on a shelf long enough to lose potency.

4

Recyclable-first packaging

Glass jars, aluminum tubes, and FSC-certified paper — no mixed-material plastic laminates.

5

People before pace

Our team of six sets our production calendar. We'd rather run out of a product than rush a batch.

6

Ohio-sourced when possible

From the peppermint in our rinse to the paperboard on our boxes, we source locally where the quality holds up.
